3、becreatedtoassisttransferstudents,wemusthaveaclearerunderstandingoftransferstudenttransition(Flaga,2002).NeedfortheStudyAnexplorationofbothAcademicandSocialintegrationwasnecessarytounderstandtheexperiencesoftransferstudents(Harrison,1999).Severalsourcespointedtothe

4、needforstudiestocounterbalancethoseinlarge,publicuniversitiesbylookingatprivateuniversities(Cejda,1999,2000;Cejda&Kaylor,1997;Townsend,1995;Walter,2000)NeedfortheStudyWoosley(2005)notedthattransferstudentsalsotendtohavealowerretentionratethanfreshmenstudents(10%low

5、eronaverage).ConceptualFrameworkTinto’s(1993)“TheoryofStudentDeparture.”ConceptualFrameworkThismodelpresentsadualframeworkofbothacademicandsocialsystemsintowhichthestudentistointegrate.Tinto’smodelisthemostwidelyusedtoexaminestudenttransitionandattrition,withover77
