5、research:argumentativeandanalytical.Whilebothrequireextensiveresearchtosupportathesisorclaim,thegoalsofeachtypeofpaperdiffergreatly.⑴ArgumentativeResearchThegoalofanargumentativeresearchpaperistopersuade,usingsecondaryinformationtosupportthewriter'sstanceonatopic.Therefore,the
6、writermustclearlydecideandcommunicatetheirstanceonthechosentopicintheformofathesisstatement.Thethesisofanargumentativeresearchpapertypicallystemsfromacontroversialissue---onethatcanbedebatedandcontainspotentialrefutationthatthewriter'sresearchwillneedtoaddress.⑵AnalyticalResea
