4、tationsofpublishedarticles,focusingonthearticlelength.Methods:Originalhumanstudiespublishedinthefirsttrimesterof2006in5majorGeneralMedicinejournalswereanalyzedwithregardtothenumberofauthorsandofauthor-affiliatedinstitutions,titleandabstractwordcount,articlelength(numberofpri
5、ntpages),numberofbibliographicreferences,studydesign,and2006journalimpactfactor(JIF).AmultiplelinearregressionmodelwasemployedtoidentifythevariablesindependentlyassociatedwiththenumberofarticlecitationsreceivedthroughJanuary2012.Results:OnunivariateanalysistheJIF,numberofaut
6、hors,articlelength,studydesign(interventional/observationalandprospective/retrospective),titleandabstractwordcount,numberofauthor-affiliatedinstitutions,andnumberofreferenceswereallassociatedwiththenumberofcitationsreceived.Onmultivariateanalysiswiththelogarithmofcitationsas
7、thedependentvariable,onlyarticlelength[regressioncoefficient:14.64(95%confidenceintervals:(5.76–23.50)]andJIF[3.37(1.80–4.948)]independentlypredictedthenumberofcitations.Thevarianceofcitationsexplainedbytheseparameterswas51.2%.Conclusion:InasampleofarticlespublishedinmajorGe
