2、slak,Istanbul,TurkeyAbstractInthispaper,asimulationmethodcalledtheDifferentialTransformMethod(DTM)isemployedtopredictthevibrationofanEuler-BernoulliandTimoshenkobeam(pipeline)restingonanelasticsoil.TheDifferentialTransformMethodisintroducedbriefly.DTMcaneasilybeappliedtolinearornonl

3、inearproblemsandreducesthesizeofcomputationalwork.Withthismethodexactsolutionsmaybeobtainedwithoutanyneedofcumbersomeworkanditisausefultoolforanalyticalandnumericalsolutions.Tomakeclearandillustratethefeaturesandcapabilitiesofthepresentedmethod,differentproblemshavebeensolvedbyusing

5、alysis,designandperformanceofburiedstructuressuchaspipelinesrequireanunderstandingofsoil-structureinteraction.Soilprotectsandsupportstheburiedpipelines,thusreducestheriskofpossiblehazardsthatcanleadtomalfunctionofthestructure.Withoututilizingthestrengthofthesurroundingsoil,buriedpip

6、elinesusuallycannotresisttheloadsanddisplacementstowhichtheyaresubjected.Therefore,itisimportanttoaccuratelyevaluatesoilrestraintorloadingontheburiedpipelinessoastoincreasetheservicelifeofthestructure.Ingeotechnicalengineering,therearenumerousstudiesinwhichthestructuralelementsaspip
