2、whohadbeenlivingandthrivingaroundPlymouth,Massachusettsforthousandsofyears--inanautumnharvestfeastcenturiesago.ThisThanksgivingDay,wereflectonthenetpassionandcontributionsofNativeAmericans,whoseskillinagriculturehelpedtheearlycolonistssurvive,andwhoserichculturecontinuestoaddtoourNation'sherita
3、ge.Wealsopauseournormalpursuitsonthisdayandjoininaspiritoffellowshipandgratitudefortheyear'sbountiesandblessings。 ThanksgivingDayisatimeeachyear,datingbacktoourfounding,whenwelayasidethetroublesanddisagreementsofthedayandbowourheadsinhumblerecognitionoftheprovidencebestoweduponourNation.Amidst
4、theuncertaintyofafledglingexperimentindemocracy,PresidentGeorgeWashingtondeclaredthefirstThanksgivinginAmerica,recountingtheblessingsoftranquility,union,andplentythatshineduponouryoungcountry.InthedarkdaysoftheCivilWarwhenthefateofourUnionwasindoubt,PresidentAbrahamLincolnproclaimedaThanksgivin
5、gDay,callingfor"theAlmightyhand"tohealandrestoreourNation。 Inconfrontingthechallengesofourday,wemustdrawstrengthfromtheresolveofpreviousgenerationswhofacedtheirownstrugglesandtakenetfortinknowingabrighterdayhasalwaysdawnedonourgreatland.Aswestandatthecloseofoneyearandlooktothepromiseofthenext,
6、weliftupourheartsingratitudetoGodforourmanyblessings,foroneanother,andforourNation.ThisThanksgivingDay,werememberthatthefreedomsandsecurityweenjoyasAmericansareprotectedbythebravemenandwomenoftheUnitedStatesArmedForces.Thesepatriotsarewillingtolaydowntheirlivesinourdefense,andtheyandtheirfamili
