2、eckedoutbythelibrarystaff,takenhomeforacertainlengthoftimeandabsorbed,andthenreturnedtothelibraryforsomeoneelsetoavailof.Library1.0isaone-directionalservicethattakespeopletotheinformationtheyrequire.Library2.0orL2asitisnowmorecommonlyaddressedasaimstotakethei
3、nformationtothepeoplebybringingthelibraryservicetotheInternetandgettingtheusersmoreinvolvedbyencouragingfeedbackparticipation.ThispaperpresentsanoverviewofLibrary2.0andintroducesweb2.0concepts.IntroductionLibrarieshavebeenaroundforcenturiesandareconsideredplace
4、sinwhichbooks,journals,CDs,etcarekeptforreferenceorforborrowingbythepublic.ThetermL2wasbelievedtobefirstmadebyMichealCaseyinhisblogLibraryCrunch.ChadandMiller(2005)describeLibrary2.0(L2)asaconcept,verydifferentfromtheserviceweknowtoday,thatoperatesaccordingtoth
5、eexpectationsoftodaysusers.Theystatethatwiththisconcept,thelibrarywillmakeinformationavailablewhereverandwhenevertheuserrequiresit.Onepointtonotehereisthatthisconceptisnotaboutreplacingthe1.0technologyalreadyinuse,butratheraboutaddingadditionalfunctionality.Lib
6、rarieswerenevertheprimarysourceofknowledge,buthavealwaysplayedamajorrole,wherepeopleofallages,genderandreligioncouldgoandengagewiththevariousformsofresources.Thisisprovenbythefactthat96%(ChadandMiller,2005)ofpeoplehavebeentoalibraryatsomepointintheirlives,and89
7、%oftheUKpopulationtrustlibraries.L2allowsthistoremain,butithasnewaims,which,itishoped,willimproveservices.Oneoftheseaimsistoencouragefeedbackandparticipationfromthecommunity.Thiscanbedoneviablogs.Ablogissimilartoanon-linediary,whichusuallycontainsentriesofwhati
8、shappeninginapersonslife,aswellastopicsofinteresttothem(Miller2006a).L2aimstobeeasytouse,attractivetonewusers,andconstantlyre-evaluatedandupdated.L2isbuiltupontheprincipleso
