3、Addictsareinvolvedindoingsomethingthatisharmfultothemselvesorothersinresponsetostrongdesiretodoso,andafearofwhatwillhappeniftheydon’t.Addictionisusuallydividedintotwobroadareas:chemicaladdictionandpsychologicaladdictions.Unlikedrugsandalcoholswhichcanaffectthebodychemicallybystimul
4、atingthecentralnervoussystem,onlinegamesitselfhavenosuchphysicaleffectsonthegameritself.Therefore,onlinegameaddictionisbelievedtobepsychologicalinnature.TheuseoftheInternethasbecomemoreandmorepopularinChina.AccordingtoasurveycarriedoutbyBreakThroughin2002,89.2%(1.63million)ofteenag
5、ersagedfrom10to29haveaccesstotheInternet.Amongthem,34.1%(0.4million)hasengagedinonlinegames,5.4timeslargercomparedwiththatduring2000(6.3%).Thisnumberisexpectedtorisethisyearwiththeincreaseofonlinegamesavailableonthemarketandthefloodingofonlinegameadvertisements.Cheapercomputers,tog
6、etherwithcheaperbroadbandservicesandInternetcharges,meansthatmorepeoplecanaffordtoplayonlinegames,contributingevenmoretotheincrease.OneproblemthatarisesfromthegrowinguseoftheInternetisonlinegameaddiction.InmanyotherdevelopedcountriessuchastheU.S.A,Japan,andKorea,onlinegameaddiction
7、hasbecomemoreandmorecommonandwellrecognized.Alotofresearcheshavebeendonetofindoutthecausesandimpactsaswellasformulatingthesolutions.TheproblemisbecomingmoreandmoreseriousinHongKongalso.Moreandmorepeoplearecommittingcrimesbecauseofthis.Somepeoplestealtheweaponsofotherplayersintheonl
