6、rtedafterundergoingseveretest.After1844,hewrotesomenovelsofbittersocialcriticism,suchasDombeyandSon,BleakHouseandHardTimesandsoon.In1858Dickensbegantogivepublicreadingswhichcontinueduntilhisdeath.In1861hepublishedtheGreatExpectations.Hecreatedsomeofliterature'smosticoniccharacters,withthethemeofso
