2、rsold,hebegantowritepoetry.Whenhewas15yearsold,thejoyoflearningwrittenbyhimwontheFrenchAcademyAwarddegree.Attheageof20,hepublishedbooksofpoetry,SongsandCarols.In1827,VictorHugopublishedthescriptCromwell.Althoughthescriptfailedtoperform,butitwasconsideredasalandmarkdocumentintoliteraryhistoryand

3、hadaneffectonFrench9romanticismpreamble.1830,Hugo’sscriptHernaniwasputoninGrandTheater.Fromthenon,romanticestablishedadominantpositioninFrenchliterarycircles.InJuly1830,FrancehadRevolutionHugowarmlypraisedtherevolutionandwrotepoemsmourningthosewhodiedintherevolution.In1831VictorHugowroteNotre

4、-DamedeParis,oneofthemostromanticnovels.However,Hugobecamearepublican.Andthenhesufferedpersecutionandlivedabroad.Duringthisperiodoftime,hewrotelesContemplations,lesMiserablesandL’HommequiRit.Itwasnotuntil1870thatVictorHugowentbacktoParis.In1885,hediedinParis.Inordertomemorizehim,hewaslaidtorest

5、inlePantheon.ThoughheisregardedinFranceasoneofthatcountry’sgreatestpoets,heisfamousforsuchnovelsasNotre-DamedeParis(1831)andLesMiserables(1862).Heistheleaderof19thcenturyromanticliteraturemovement,arepresentativeofhumanitarianandisalsocalledas“ShakespeareofFrance”.3,Themaincontentofthisbook:《No
