2、anics.Roughlyspeakingitamountstoreplacinganoperatorofinterestbyasuitablychoseninvertiblesystemofoperators.Thatapproachhasaverylongtraditionandappearsconstantlyunderdifferentnamesandguisesinmanyworksofpureandappliedmathematics.Ourpurposehereisnottoprovideahistoricalsur
3、veybuttopresentanaccountofaspecificapproachfromapersonalperspectiveoftheauthors.Ononehandwehopetoprovideasourceofsystematicreferencesforthepractitionersofourtypeofspectraltheoryand,hopefully,toconvinceothersoftheusefulnessofthismethod.Wedonotknow,butfindveryinteresting
