2、ntstreatedbytheauthorsatthegynaecologicalwardoftheUniversityofBeninTeachingHospital,Beninª²City,NigeriabetweenJanuary1997andDecember2006wereanalyzed.Informationextractedandanalyzedincludeddataonsocioª²biological,demographic,andobstetriceventoftheantecedentpregnancy.Results:The

3、averageageofpatientswithvesicoª²vaginalfistula(VVF)was34yearswithameanparityof3.Thevariousmeanvaluesforpatients'height,weightandbodymassindex(BMI)were1.58m,58.29kgand24.13respectively.Themajority(92.7%)offistulasareobstetricinorigin.While5.21%wereduetototalabdominalhysterectom

4、yand2.08%duetopostirradiationforadvancedgynecologicalmalignancy.53(55.21%)patientshadobstetricoperativeinterventions(Forcepsorvacuumextraction,andorcaesareansection).Caesareansectioncontributed23.96%tothetotal12figure.Juxtaª²cervicalfistulawasthemostfrequent,nextmidvaginaandfo

5、llowedbyvesicoª²uterine(32.98%,24.4%and19.15%respectively).Conclusion:ObstetricsurgicalinterventionbycareprovidersisamajorcauseofVVFformationwithparticularreferencetoCaesareansection.Vesicoª²uterinefistulasareontheincrease.¡¾¹Ø¼ü´Ê¡¿Urinaryfistula;Caesereansection;Aetiological
