3、sfythedemandsofthemyriadgreenstakeholdersthatrepresenttheplanetintheimmediatebusinessarena.Thisprovidesanew"flavor"ofenterprisestrategyinwhichorganizations"standforsustainability."Wecallthisnewflavor"eco-enterprisestrategy."Enterprisestrategyisaframeworkforexploringandunderstanding"whattheorgani

4、zationstandsfor"byfocusingontheunderlyingethicalrootsofthefirm'sstrategicchoices.Enterprisestrategyallowsforanalysesoftherelationshipsbetweenafirm'slong-termissuesanditskeystakeholdersinlightofitscorevaluesandethicalsystems(Freeman,1984;FreemanandGilbert,1988).Enterprisestrategyhasbeenproposedas

5、ameaningfulframeworkforintegratingecologicalconcernsintothestrategicprocessesoforganizations.FromtherecognitionthattheEarthisalegitimatestakeholdercanemergeastrategicmanagementsystemdesignedtoefficientlyandeffectivelyservetheinterestsoftheplanetanditsgreenrepresentativesintheimmediatebusinessare

6、na(SteadandStead,1994,1996).Inthispaperwewillextendthisideabydevelopingamodelforanew"flavor"ofenterprisestrategy(FreemanandGilbert,1988),whichwecall"eco-enterprisestrategy."Wewillbeginourmodeldevelopmentbyexaminingtheconceptofenterprisestrategyinsomedepth,payingparticularattentiontothethreecompo
