3、phy,urbanplanningandarchitecture.Thispaperreviews83papersofthepast23yearsinChina.Thepapercon-sistsoffourparts.Thefirstpartisabriefintroductiontothispaper.Inthesecondpart.thesourcesofthesepapersareintroduced.Thisisfollowedbyanintroductiontothewaysthesepa
4、persarecategorized,especiallybydisciplineandstudytype.Inthethirdpart,theauthorsanalyzethequantityofresearchesofeveryyearwhichappearsanascendingtrendespeciallyinthepasteightyears.Thedistributionoftheresearchesindif-ferentdisciplinesisthatthepapersoftheur
5、banplanningaccountfor38percent,thepapersofcriminologyoccupy28percent,thepapersofgeographyoccupy22percentandthepapersofarchitectureoccupy12per—cent.Theanalysisonstudytypesindicatesthat17percentoftheresearchesareempiricalstudiesconductedinthecitiesofChina
6、.Theremainingoftheliteraturesaremainlythereviewsoftheoriesand/orapplicationso-verseas,andpolicysuggestionsarenotbasedonanybasicorempiricalstudies.Inthefourthpart,allthepa—persaredividedintothreegroupsaccordingtotheircontent,includingthespatialdistributi
7、onofcrimesinur-banareas,therelationshipbetweenurbanenvironmentandcriminalbehaviors,andthepreventionofcrimethroughurbanenvironmentplanninganddesign.Theanalysisofthefirstgroupindicatesthatempiricalstud-iesarescarceandmostofthestudiesfocusedonthemacrolevel
8、sofacityorcountryinsteadofthemicrolev—elofurbanenvironments.Bothcomprehensivefactorsinmacrourbanareasandconcretefactorsindifferenttypesofmicrourbanenvironments,suchasresidents,parksandindustryareasareinvolvedinthesecondgroupofstu
