2、ingasinglephasepowersystemfeedinganon-linearload.Thisstrategyisbasedonanewtheorytotransformthetraditionalsinglephasepowersystemintoanequivalenttwo-axisorthogonalsystem.Thissystemisbasedoncomplementingthesinglephasesystemwithafictitioussecondphasesothatbothofthetwophasesge

3、nerateanorthogonalpowersystem.Thiswouldyieldapowersystemwhichisanalogoustothethreephasepowersystembutwiththephaseshiftbetweensuccessivephasesequaltoл/2insteadof2л/3.ApplicationofthisnovelapproachmakesitpossibletousethecomplexorGaussdomainanalyticalmethodinasimilarwaytothe

4、wellknownmethodofinstantaneousreactivepowerforthreephasepowersysteminstigatedbyAkagietalin1983.Thus,forthefictitioustwo-axisphasepowersystem,theconceptofinstantaneousactiveandreactivepowercouldbeinstigated.Moreover,theconceptofinstantaneouspowerfactorcouldbedefined.Thenov

5、elstrategyofpowersystemanalysisoutlinedinthispaperisappliedtoasinglephasepowersystemfeedinganon-linearloadinconjunctionwithanactivepowerfilter.Thelatterservesthepurposeofcompensatingforeitheroftheinstantaneousreactivepowerortheharmoniccurrentdistortioninthesinglephasepowe
