2、asedtoattendtheFifthChina-ASEANBusinessandInvestmentSummit.OnbehalfoftheChineseGovernment,IwishtoextendawarmwelcometotheleadersofASEANcountriesandalltheguestsatthemeeting.中国与东盟各国政府高度重视发展友好关系和互利合作。自2004年首次举办中国━东盟博览会和商务与投资峰会以来，双方积极推进中国━东盟自由贸易区建设，先后签署并实施货物贸易协议、服务贸易协议，不断降低关税水平和扩大市场
3、准入，深化大湄公河、东盟东部增长区等次区域经济合作，推动贸易和投资更加便利化。中国与东盟贸易额由2004年的1059亿美元增加到2007年的2025亿美元，提前三年实现双方领导人提出的2000亿美元的贸易目标。今年1-9月，双方贸易额达1804亿美元，比去年同期增长23%,已互为第四大贸易伙伴。相互投资不断扩大，东盟对华投资已形成相当规模，中国企业对东盟投资快速增长。东盟10国都已成为中国公民的旅游目的国，人员往来更加频繁。双方各领域合作呈现出平等互信、互利共赢的良好发展态势。GovernmentsofChinaandASEANcountriesal

5、gnedandputintoeffecttheagreementsontradeingoodsandservices,loweredtariffdutiesandexpandedmarketaccess,deepenedsub-regionaleconomiccooperationintheGreaterMekongRiverBasinandEastASEANGrowthArea,andpromotedtradeandinvestmentfacilitation.ThetradevolumebetweenChinaandASEANincreasedf
6、rom105.9billionU.S.dollarsin2004to202.5billionU.S.dollarsin2007,attainingthetradetargetof200billionU.S.dollarssetbyourleadersthreeyearsaheadofschedule.Duringthefirstninemonthsofthisyear,ourtwo-waytradevolumereached180.4billiondollars,upby23%overthesameperiodoflastyearandmakingC
7、hinaandASEANeachother'sfourthlargesttradingpartner.Ourmutualinvestmentisexpanding.WhileASEANmakesconsiderableamountofinvestmentinChina,theinvestmentofChinesebusinessesinASEANisgrowingrapidly.Withallthe10ASEANcountriesbecomingtouristdestinationsofChinesecitizens,mutualvisitsbetw
