1、Studyonnonlinearanalysisofahighlyredundantcable-stayedbridge1.AbstractAcomparisononnonlinearanalysisofahighlyredundantcable-stayedbridgeisperformedinthestudy.Theinitialshapesincludinggeometryandprestressdistributionofthebridgearedeterminedbyusingatwo-loopiterationmethod,i.e.

2、,anequilibriumiterationloopandashapeiterationloop.Fortheinitialshapeanalysisalinearandanonlinearcomputationprocedurearesetup.Intheformerallnonlinearitiesofcable-stayedbridgesaredisregarded,andtheshapeiterationiscarriedoutwithoutconsideringequilibrium.Inthelatterallnonlineari

3、tiesofthebridgesaretakenintoconsiderationandboththeequilibriumandtheshapeiterationarecarriedout.Basedontheconvergentinitialshapesdeterminedbythedifferentprocedures,thenaturalfrequenciesandvibrationmodesarethenexaminedindetails.Numericalresultsshowthataconvergentinitialshapec

4、anbefoundrapidlybythetwo-loopiterationmethod,areasonableinitialshapecanbedeterminedbyusingthelinearcomputationprocedure,andalotofcomputationeffortscanthusbesaved.Thereareonlysmalldifferencesingeometryandprestressdistributionbetweentheresultsdeterminedbylinearandnonlinearcomp

5、utationprocedures.However,fortheanalysisofnaturalfrequencyandvibrationmodes,significantdifferencesinthefundamentalfrequenciesandvibrationmodeswilloccur,andthenonlinearitiesofthecable-stayedbridgeresponseappearonlyinthemodesdeterminedonbasisoftheinitialshapefoundbythenonlinea

6、rcomputation.2.IntroductionRapidprogressintheanalysisandconstructionofcable-stayedbridgeshasbeenmadeoverthelastthreedecades.Theprogressismainlyduetodevelopmentsinthefieldsofcomputertechnology,highstrengthsteelcables,orthotropicsteeldecksandconstructiontechnology.Sincethefirs
