1、ExpressionofE-cadherinandα-catenininavaricocele-inducedinfertilityratmodelHongKooHa,HyunJunParkandNamCheolParkAbstractTherolesofE-cadherinandα-cateninwereevaluatedinthedevelopmentofvaricocele-inducedinfertility.AnalysisoftheassociationbetweentheexpressionofE-cadherin/α-cateninan
2、dclinical/pathologicalparameterswasperformed.Thirty10-week-oldmalerats(experimentalgroup)wereusedfortheexperiments;theleftrenalveinwasligatedtoformavaricocele.Theabdomenwasincisedin30rats(controlgroup)andnoprocedurewasperformedon10rats(baselinegroup).Theweightsofthelefttestis,se
3、rumreactiveoxygenspecies(ROS),testosterone,luteinizinghormone(LH),follicle-stimulatinghormone(FSH)anddegenerativechangesintheseminiferoustubulesafter4and8weekswererecorded.TheexpressionofE-cadherinandα-cateninwasevaluatedbyimmunohistochemical(IHC)stainingandWesternblotanalysis.T
4、heROSincreasedinthe8-weekexperimentalgroup,comparedwiththebaselineandcontrolgroups(P<0.001forboth).Additionally,FSHsignificantlyincreasedinthe4-and8-weekexperimentalgroupcomparedwiththecontrolgroups(P=0.013andP=0.032,respectively).Theratioofdegenerativechangesintheseminiferoustu
5、bulesoftheexperimentalgroupsincreased.TheIHCstainingshowedthattheexpressionofE-cadherinandα-catenindecreasedinthe4-and8-weekexperimentalgroups.SimilartotheIHCstaining,theexperimentalgrouphaddecreasedreactivityonWesternblotanalysis.TheexpressionofE-cadherinandα-cateninwassignific
