3、.5.3.Theconcretedamagedplasticitymodelisprimarilyintendedtoprovideageneralcapabilityfortheanalysisofconcretestructuresundercyclicand/ordynamicloading.Themodelisalsosuitablefortheanalysisofotherquasi-brittlematerials,suchasrock,mortarandceramics;butitisthebehaviorofconcretethati

4、susedintheremainderofthissectiontomotivatedifferentaspectsoftheconstitutivetheory.Underlowconfiningpressures,concretebehavesinabrittlemanner;themainfailuremechanismsarecrackingintensionandcrushingincompression.Thebrittlebehaviorofconcretedisappearswhentheconfiningpressureissuff

5、icientlylargetopreventcrackpropagation.Inthesecircumstancesfailureisdrivenbytheconsolidationandcollapseoftheconcretemicroporousmicrostructure,leadingtoamacroscopicresponsethatresemblesthatofaductilematerialwithworkhardening.Modelingthebehaviorofconcreteunderlargehydrostaticpres

6、suresisoutofthescopeoftheplastic-damagemodelconsideredhere.Theconstitutivetheoryinthissectionaimstocapturetheeffectsofirreversibledamageassociatedwiththefailuremechanismsthatoccurinconcreteandotherquasi-brittlematerialsunderfairlylowconfiningpressures(lessthanfourorfivetimesthe
