1、INTERNATIONALCONVENTIONFORSAFECONTAINERS(Geneva,2December1972) PREAMBLETHECONTRACTINGPARTIES,RECOGNIZINGtheneedtomaintainahighlevelofsafetyofhumanlifeinthehandling,stackingandtransportingofcontainers,MINDFULoftheneedtofacilitateinternationalcontainertransport,RECOGNIZING,inthiscontext,th
2、eadvantagesofformalizingcommoninternationalsafetyrequirements,CONSIDERINGthatthisendmaybestbeachievedbytheconclusionofaConvention,HAVEDECIDEDtoformalizestructuralrequirementstoensuresafetyinthehandling,stackingandtransportingofcontainersinthecourseofnormaloperations,andtothisendHAVEAGREE
3、Dasfollows:ArticleIGeneralobligationunderthepresentConventionTheContractingPartiesundertaketogiveeffecttotheprovisionsofthepresentConventionandtheAnnexeshereto,whichshallconstituteanintegralpartofthepresentConvention.ArticleIIDefinitionsForthepurposeofthepresentConvention,unlessexpressly
4、providedotherwise:1."Container"meansanarticleoftransportequipment:(a)ofapermanentcharacterandaccordinglystrongenoughtobesuitableforrepeateduse;(b)speciallydesignedtofacilitatethetransportofgoods,byoneormoremodesoftransport,withoutintermediatereloading;(c)designedtobesecuredand/orreadilyh
5、andled,havingcornerfittingsforthesepurposes;(d)ofasizesuchthattheareaenclosedbythefourouterbottomcornersiseither:(i)atleast14sq.m.(150sq.ft.)or(ii)atleast7sq.m.(75sq.ft.)ifitisfittedwithtopcornerfittings;theterm"container"includesneithervehiclesnorpackaging;however,containerswhencarriedo
6、nchassisareincluded.2."Cornerfittings"meansanarrangementofaperturesandfacesatthetopand/orbottomofacontainerforthepurposesofhandling,stackingand/orsecuring.3."Administration"meanstheGovernmentofaContractingPartyunderwhoseauthoritycontainersareapproved.4."Approved"meansapprovedbytheAdminis
7、tration.5."Approval"meansthedecisionbyanAdministrationthatadesigntypeoracontainerissafewithinthetermsofthepresentConvention.6."Internationaltransport"meanstransportbetweenpointsofdepartureanddestinationsituatedintheterritoryoftwocountriestoatleastoneofwhichthepresentConve
