2、ewSHMtechniqueforcompositestructurescomposedofcarbon-fiber-reinforced-polymers(CFRP).Electricalimpedancespectroscopy(EIS)isemployedtoestimatethedamagestateofthecomposite.NomodificationtocurrentCFRPprocessingmethodsisrequired,noristheproposedtechniqueinvasiveordestructive.EISinterfacescanbeeitherperma

3、nentlyattachedortemporarilyconnected.WehypothesizethatEIShasthepotentialtobemoresensitiveandselectivefordamagedetectionbyusingafullcomplex-planeanalysis,consideringbothimpedancemagnitudeandphaseangle.ThisisincontrasttoelectricalSHMapproachesemployingresistancemeasurement,therealcomponentofimpedance

4、,whichignoresphaseangleandreactanceinformation.InordertotestourhypothesisweimplementedthreedifferentexperimentstoevaluatetheeffectivenessoftheEIStechnique:(1)specimenloadsensitivity;(2)specimendamagesensitivity;and(3)specimenfatiguesensitivity.Multipleelectricalinterrogationpathsthroughthespecimena
