3、moments,Americahascarriedonnotsimplybecauseoftheskillorvisionofthoseinhighoffice,butbecauseWethePeoplehaveremainedfaithfultotheidealsofourforbearers,andtruetoourfoundingdocuments.Soithasbeen.SoitmustbewiththisgenerationofAmericans.Thatweareinthemidstofcrisisisnoww
4、ellunderstood.Ournationisatwar,againstafar-reachingnetworkofviolenceandhatred.Oureconomyisbadlyweakened,aconsequenceofgreedandirresponsibilityonthepartofsome,butalsoourcollectivefailuretomakehardchoicesandpreparethenationforanewage.Homeshavebeenlost;jobsshed;busin
5、essesshuttered.Ourhealthcareistoocostly;ourschoolsfailtoomany;andeachdaybringsfurtherevidencethatthewaysweuseenergystrengthenouradversariesandthreatenourplanet.Thesearetheindicatorsofcrisis,subjecttodataandstatistics.Lessmeasurablebutnolessprofoundisasappingofconf
6、idenceacrossourland-anaggingfearthatAmerica’sdeclineisinevitable,andthatthenextgenerationmustloweritssights.TodayIsaytoyouthatthechallengeswefacearereal.Theyareseriousandtheyaremany.Theywillnotbemeteasilyorinashortspanoftime.Butknowthis,America-theywillbemet.Onthi
