2、searlyworkswonprizes,andduringhissenioryear,theFederalTheatreProjectinDetroitperformedoneofhisworks.Heproducedhisfirstgreatsuccess,AllMySons,in1947.Twoyearslater,MillerwroteDeathofaSalesman,whichwonthePulitzerPrizeandbroughtMillerthenationalfame.ManycriticsdescribedDeathofaSalesmanasthefirstgreatA
3、mericantragedy,andMillergainedreputationandrespectasamanwhounderstoodthedeepessenceoftheUnitedStates.HehaswontheNewYorkDramaCriticsCircleAwardtwice,andhisBrokenGlass(1993)wontheOlivierAwardforBestPlayoftheLondonSeason. ArthurMillerwasregardedasoneofthegreatestdramatistsin1920s.Inhislifetime,hec
4、reatedanumberofgreatworks,includingAllMySons (1947),DeathofaSalesman(1949),TheCrucible (1953),ThePrice(1968)andmanyothers.Amongthem,DeathofaSalesmanwasseenbymostofthecriticsasthemostsuccessfuloneandforwhichMillerwonPulizerPrize.Millerwasconcernedaboutsocietyandthevalueswhichitheldandhewasmainlywri
5、tingforthemiddle-classaudience.Hewasofteninthepubliceye,particularlyduringthelate1940s,1950sandearly1960s.Intheend,hewasdiedintheyearof2005attheageof89. Miller’scareerasawriterspannedoversevendecades,andatthetimeofhisdeath,Millerwasconsideredtobeoneofthegreatestdramatistsofthetwentiethcentury.
6、Afterhisdeath,manyrespectedactors,directors,andproducerspaidtributetoMiller,somecallinghimthelastgreatpractitioneroftheAmericanstage,andBroadwaytheatersdarkenedtheirlightsinashowofrespect.Miller’salmamater,theUniversityofMichiganopenedtheArthurMillerTheatreinMarch,2007.Itistheonlytheaterintheworld
