4、sprovided.Insightsandpotentialfuturetrendsintheareaofde-noisingarealsodiscussed.1.IntroductionDigitalimagesplayanimportantrolebothindailylifeapplicationssuchassatellitetelevision,magneticresonanceimaging,computertomographyaswellasinareasofresearchandtechnologysuchasg
5、eographicalinformationsystemsandastronomy.Datasetscollectedbyimagesensorsaregenerallycontaminatedbynoise.Imperfectinstruments,problemswiththedataacquisitionprocess,andinterferingnaturalphenomenacanalldegradethedataofinterest.Furthermore,noisecanbeintroducedbytransmis
6、sionerrorsandcompression.Thus,de-noisingisoftenanecessaryandthefirststeptobetakenbeforetheimagesdataisanalyzed.Itisnecessarytoapplyanefficientde-noisingtechniquetocompensateforsuchdatacorruption.Imagede-noisingstillremainsachallengeforresearchersbecausenoiseremovalin
7、troducesartifactsandcausesblurringoftheimages.Thispaperdescribesdifferentmethodologiesfornoisereduction(orde-noising)givinganinsightastowhichalgorithmshouldbeusedtofindthemostreliableestimateoftheoriginalimagedatagivenitsdegradedversion.Noisemodelinginimagesisgreatly
