3、eftvisualhemifieldsareperformedfasterwithuncrossedhand-fieldcombinationsthanwithcrossedhand-fieldcombinations.Uncrossedresponsescanbeintegratedwithinasinglehemisphere,whereascrossedresponsesrequireatime-consuminginterhemispherictransferviathecorpuscallosumwhichisreflected
4、inthedifferencebetweencrossedanduncrossedreactiontimes.Weinvestigatedcrossed-uncrosseddifferences(CUDs)inspeedofsimplevisuomotorresponsestolateralizedflashesinsevensubjectswithananteriorsectionofthecorpuscallosumsparingthespleniumandinonesubjectwithanageneticabsenceofthes
5、pleniumduetoacerebrovascularmalformation.TherewasnoevidenceofanabnormalprolongationoftheCUDsinanyofthesesubjects,insharpcontrastwiththeverylongCUDsexhibitedbyanepilepticsubjectwithacompletecallosalsectionandtwosubjectswithtotalcallosalagenesistestedinthesameexperimentalsi
6、tuation[1].ThenormalityoftheCUDsinthesubjectswithpartialcallosaldefectswasnotduetoapostoperatoryreorganizationofinterhemisphericcommunication,sincetherewasnoindicationofanincreasedCUDinapatienttestedasearlyas5daysaftertheanteriorcallosotomy.Theseresultsarecompatiblewithth
