2、stemsincorporatingreal-timeoperatingsystems,anewclassofcontrollers,thePACisemerginganewacronymcreatedbyAutomationResearchCorporation(ARC),standsforProgrammableAutomationControllerandisusedtodescribeanewgenerationofindustrialcontrollersthatcombinethefunctionalityofaPLCandaPC.ThePACacronymisbein
3、gusedbothbytraditionalPLCvendorstodescribetheirhighendsystemsandbyPCcontrolcompaniestodescribetheirindustrialcontrolplatforms.The“80-20”RuleDuringthethreedecadesfollowingtheirintroduction,PLChaveevolvedtoincorporateanalogI/O,communicationovernetworks,andnewprogrammingstandardssuchasIEC61131-3.

6、scontinuityincontrollertechnology,where80percentofapplicationsrequiresimple,lowcostcontrollersand20percentrelentlesslypushthecapabilitiesoftraditionalcontrolsystems.Theapplicationshatfallwithinthe20percentarebuiltbyengineerswhorequirehigherlooprates,advancedcontrolalgorithms,moreanalogcapabili
