2、ifically,theprojectfocusesontherelationshipsbetweenregionalandstateassessmentpoliciesandpractices,andtheimprovementofteachingandlearningatpublicinstitutionsofhighereducation・ThecasestudiesaredesignedtoprovideProject5.1researcherswiththeopportunitytoint
3、erviewassessmentpolicymakersattheregionalandstatelevels.Duringtheseinterviews,researchersandpolicymakerswilldiscusstherelationshipbetweenassessmentpolicyandtheimprovementofteachingandlearninginawaythatbothcomplementsandsupplementsearlierresearchefforts
4、(i.c.,collectionandanalysisofpolicydocuments,collectionandanalysisofquestionnaireresponses).Inthissense,thecasestudiesarealogicalprogressionoftheprojeefsthree-yearresearchefforts.Thedatacollectedduringtheinterviews,inadditiontoanyfurtherpolicydocumenta
5、tionthatisgathered,willbeanalyzedandinterpretedwithinapolicyanalysis&amework,andusedtodevelopmultiplepolicymodelsforstatesandassociationstouseastheygrapplewiththecomplexitiesofassessment,accountability,andtheimprovementofteachingandlearning・Theseassess
6、mentpolicymodelswillbedesignedtoservetheneedsofavarietyofdifferentaudiences・Includedamongtheseaudienceswillbestatelegislatorsandstaff,statehighereducationexecutiveofficersandagencies,stateassessmentofficers,regionalaccreditingassociationofficers,boards
7、oftrustees/regents,campusexecutiveofficers,institutionalassessmentofficers,faculty,andassessmentscholarsandresearchers.ProtocolforPolicyExpertsintheStateHigherEducationExecutiveOfficePurposeToelicitdataandinformation&omhighereducationpolicyexpertswhoco
8、mprisetheofficersandstaffofthegoverning/coordinatingboards.Thisprotocolconsistsoffivesectionscontainingquestionsthatcapturebothgeneralandspecificinformationregarding:1.Theoriginofthestateassessmentpolicy;2.Thecodificationofthestateasses
