3、redatasetforChinabetween2003and2010.Usingtheensembledataset,thetemporalandspatialvariationsofsurfacesoilmoisturewereanalyzed.Themajorfindingswere:(1)Theensembledatasetwasabletoprovidemorerealisticsoilmoistureinformationthanindividualremotesensingproducts;(2)duringthestud
4、yperiod,thesoilmoistureincreasedinsemiaridregionsanddecreasedinaridregionswithanoveralldryingtrendforthewholecountry;(3)thesoilmoisturevariationtrendsderivedfi-omthethreeretrievalproductsandtheensembledatadifferfromeachotherbutalldatasetsshowthedominantdryingtrendforthes
5、ummer,andthatmostofthedryingregionswereinmajoragriculturalareas;(4)com-paredwiththeprecipitationtrendsderivedfromGlobalPrecipitationClimatologyProjectdata,itisspeculatedthatclimatechangeisapossiblecauseforthedryingtrendinsemiaridregionsandthewettingtrendinaridregions;and
6、(5)combiningsoilmoisturetrendswithlandsurfacetemperaturetrendsderivedfromModerateResolutionImagingSpectroradiomete,thestudydomainwasdividedintofourcategories.Regionswithdryingandwarmingtrendscover33.2%,theregionswithdryingandcoolingtrendscover27.4%,theregionswithwettinga
7、ndwarmingtrendscover21.1%andtheregionswithwettingandcoolingtrendscover1&1%・Thefirsttwocategoriesprimarilycoverthemajorgrainproducingareas,whilethethirdcategoryprimarilycoversnona-rableareassuchasNorthwestChinaandTibet.ThisimpliesthatthemoistureandheatvariationtrendsinChi
