5、sisbilateralthatinsomecaseslanguagecaninfluencehowpeoplethinkandinothercasesviceversa.Sexisminlanguageandhowitisrepresentedhasbeenamajorissueinsociolinguisticstudies.Andrecently,thisissueevencausespoliticalcommunitiestotrytochangelanguageuses,especiallyoftheEnglishvocabulary.Sexismi

6、stheresultofdifferentsocialattitudestowardsthebehaviorofmenandwomen,andoftheattitudesmenandwomenthemselvesconsequentlyhavetolanguageasasocialsymbol(Trudgill1983:94).Peoplehavebeendiscussingsexdifferencesinlanguageintermsofthewaythingsare,andintermsofwhatpeoplehavetraditionallyfeltto
