4、altransporterNRAMP1(forNaturalResistanceAssociatedMacrophageProtein1).Thenramp1-1loss-of-functionmutantgrowspoorly,containslessMnthanthewildtype,andfailstotakeupMninconditionsofMnlimitation,thusdemonstratingthatNRAMP1isthemajorhigh-affinityMntransporterinA

5、rabidopsis.BasedonconfocalmicroscopyobservationofanNRAMP1-greenfluorescentproteinfusion,weestablishedthatNRAMP1islocalizedtotheplasmamembrane.ConsistentwithitsfunctioninMnacquisitionfromthesoil,NRAMP1expressionisrestrictedtotherootandstimulatedbyMndeficienc

6、y.Finally,weshowthatNRAMP1restoresthecapacityoftheiron-regulatedtransporter1mutanttotakeupironandcobalt,indicatingthatNRAMP1hasabroadselectivityinvivo.TheroleoftransportersoftheNRAMPfamilyiswellestablishedinhighereukaryotesforironbuthasbeencontroversialfo
