2、simulationusedasaCAEdesigntool.introductionSincethe1980s,whencomputer-aidedengineering(CAE)methodsfirstbecameavailableindesignengineering,finiteelementanalysis(FEA)becamethefirstwidelyadoptedsimulationtool.Overtheyears,ithashelpeddesignengineersstudythestructura
3、lperformanceofnewproducts,andreplacemanytime-consuming,costlyprototypeswithinexpensivecomputersimulationsrunonCADmodels.Today,becauseofthegrowingcomplexityofmechanicalproductsandincreas-inglyfiercecompetitiontobringnewdesignstomarketfaster,engineersfeelmountingp
4、ressuretoextendthescopeofsimulationbeyondFEA.AlongwithMotionsimulationprovidescom-simulatingstructuralperformancewithFEA,engineersalsoneedtodetermineplete,quantitativeinformationaboutthekinematicsanddynamicsofnewproductsbeforethebuildingofphysicalthekinematics—i
5、ncludingposition,prototypes.velocity,andacceleration,andthedynamics—includingjointreactions,Motionsimulation—alsoknownasrigidbodydynamics—offersasimulationinertialforces,andpowerrequire-approachtosolvingthoseissues.Itsuseisgrowingfast,andasitdoes,designments,ofa
