3、hasworkedextensivelyfortheAdvancedPlacementprogramandchairedthecommitteethatdevisedandimplementedtheAPworldhistorycourse(1996–2006).ProfessorStearnswasVicePresidentoftheAmericanHistoricalAssociation,headingitsTeachingDivisionfrom1995to1998.Healsofoundedandstilledi
4、tstheJournalofSocialHistory.TrainedinEuropeansocialhistory,ProfessorStearnshasauthoredawidearrayofbooksandarticles(onbothEuropeandtheUnitedStates)onsuchsubjectsasemotions,childrearing,dietingandobesity,oldage,andwork.Hehasalsowrittenwidelyinworldhistory,authoringt
5、wotextbooksthathavegonethroughmultipleeditions.HeeditedthesixtheditionoftheEncyclopediaofWorldHistoryandiscurrentlyeditinganEncyclopediaofModernWorldHistory.Hehaswrittenseveralthematicstudiesinworldhistory,includingTheIndustrialndRevolutioninWorldHistory(2ed.,West
6、view,1998),GenderinWorldndndHistory(2ed.,Routledge,2006),ConsumerisminWorldHistory(2ed.,Routledge,2006),WesternCivilizationinWorldHistory(Routledge,2003),andChildhoodinWorldHistory(Routledge,2005).HisbookGlobalOutrage:TheEvolutionandImpactofWorldOpinion(OneWorld)a
