2、ternationalLuxuryTravelMarket(ILTM)haslaunchedaglobalresearchprojectontheluxurytravelindustry.Theobjectiveoftheresearchistwo-fold:toidentifykeysupplyanddemandtrends,andtoexplorethefutureofthebusinessrelationshipbetweenbuyersandsuppliers.Thisreportaddi
3、tionallyseekstoestablishbenchmarksforthegloballuxurytravelindustry.“TheFutureofLuxuryTravel,AGlobalTrendsReport”isaqualitativeandquantitativeresearchprojectthatisbeingcarriedoutoverthreeyears,from2011to2013.Tomeasurethemaintrendsandchallengesoftheluxu
4、rytravelindustry,anInternetsurveywithluxurytravelbuyersandsuppliershasbeenlaunched,andone-on-oneinterviewswithCEOsorseniorrepresentativesfrommajorluxurytravelgroupsworldwidearebeingconducted.Inaddition,focusgroupswithbuyers(touroperatorsandtravelagent
5、swhoprovideadistributionchannelforreachingtheconsumer,i.e.,theluxurytraveller)andsuppliers(includingairlines,cruiselines,hotels,etc.)tookplaceinSingaporeandNewYork.TheluxurytravelindustryandtheluxurysectorInitialresultsshowthattheluxurytravelindustryf
6、ollowsthesametrendsastheluxurysectoringeneral,althoughluxurytravelisnotcommonlycategorisedwithintheluxuryindustry.Notonlyareluxurytravelsectorsdistinguishedbyuniqueness,brandimageryandhighpricelevels—themainguidingprinciplesoftheluxurysector—buttheyar
7、ealsoimpactedbythesametrends.Acleardistinctionbetweenultra-luxuryandaffordableluxuryhasbeenobserved,togetherwiththedevelopmentofpersonalisedservices,amoveawayfromostentation,theincreasingimportanceofWeb-basedmedia,andprogressivelymoreattentiontogreen/
8、ethicalsocialprinciples.Aboveall,aswiththeluxurysectoringeneral,thedemandforluxurytravelisexpectedtogrow,especiallyinrelationtoemergingeconomies,e.g.,intheBRICcountries(Brazil,Russia,India,andChina).EmergingdestinationtrendsResearchwithluxuryt
