2、sphaltproductsareusedtoproduceflexiblepavementsforhighwaysandairports.Theterm“flexible”isusedtodistinguishthesepavementsfromthosemadewithPortlandcement,whichareclassifiedasrigidpavements,thatis,havingbeamstrength.Thisdistinctionisimportantbecauseitprovide
3、stheykeytothedesignapproachwhichmustbeusedforsuccessfulflexiblepavementstructures.Theflexiblepavementclassificationmaybefurtherbrokendownintohighandlowtypes,thetypeusuallydependingonwhetherasolidorliquidasphaltproductisused.Thelowtypesofpavementaremadewit
4、hthecutback,oremulsion,liquidproductsandareverywidelyusedthroughoutthiscountry.Descriptiveterminologyhasbeendevelopedinvarioussectionsofthecountrytotheextentthatonepavementtypemayhaveseveralnames.However,thegeneralprocessfollowedinconstructionissimilarfor
5、mostlow-typepavementsandcanbedescribedasoneinwhichtheaggregateandtheasphaltproductareusuallyappliedtotheroadbedseparatelyandtheremixedorallowedtomix,formingthepavement.Thehightypeofasphaltpavementsismadewithasphaltcementsofsomeselectedpenetrationgrade.第12
