4、eparateexistenceandtherebytakesonitsowndistinctiveformanddefinition.ThelaterNeoplatonistssuchasProclus,perhapsPorphyry,andtheauthoroftheanonymousParmenidesCommentary[1]namedthesethreestagesPermanence,ProcessionandReversion,andcharacterizedthethreesuccessivemodesofthep
5、roduct'sexistenceduringthisprocessbythetermsExistence,LifeandIntellect.Previously,Plotinushadappliedasimilarterminology,namelyBeing,LifeandMind,todescribethethreeprincipalaspectsofthesecondofhisthreehypostases,Intellect.[2]Earlierstill,accordingtoDamascius(Dubitatione
6、setSolutiones61&221=1.131,17&2.101,25Ruelle),theChaldaeanOraclesalsoappliedtheExistence,LifeandIntelligenceterminologytotheprincipaltranscendententitiesofthatsystem.Betweenthehighestprinciple,thePaternalMonad(equatedwithExistence),andthedivineIntellect,theyinterposeda
