3、finiteelementanalysishasproventobeeffectiveinsimulatingnonlinearengineeringapplications.However,thechoiceoftheappropriatematerialmodelplaysabigroleinthevalueofthenumericalpredictions.Suchmodelsarenotexpectedtoexactlyreproduceglobalexperimentalresponseinallcases.Alternatively,themeasuredglob

4、alresponseatspecificdomainorsurfacepointscanbeusedtoguidethenonlinearanalysistosuccessivelyextractarepresentativematerialmodel.Byselectinganinitialsetofstress–straindatapoints,theload–displacementresponseatthemonitoringpointsiscomputedinaforwardincrementalanalysiswithoutiterations.Thisanal

5、ysisretainsthestressesattheintegrationpoints.Thecorrespondingstrainsarenotaccuratesincethecomputeddisplacementsarenotanticipatedtomatchthemea-sureddisplacementsatthemonitoringpoints.Therefore,acorrectiveincrementaldisplacementanalysisisperformedatthesameloadstepstoadjustfordisplacementsan

6、dstrainseverywherebymatchingthemeasureddisplacementsatthemon-itoringpoints.Thestress–strainvectorsatthemosthighlystressedintegrationpointarefoundtoestablishanimprovedmaterialmodel.Thismodelisusedwithinamulti-passincrementalnonlinearfiniteelementanalysisuntilthediscrepancybetweenthemeasured

7、andthepredictedstructuralresponseatthemonitoringpointsvanishes.TheJ2flowtheoryofplas-ticityisusedasaconstitutiveframeworktobuildthetangentelastic–plasticmatrices.Theapplicabilityoftheproposedapproachisdemonstratedbysolving2Dinversecontinuumproblems.Thecomparisonspres
