2、atedlanguagephenomenonindailyinteractions，whichOCCURSbetweenintedocutorsbecauseofdifferentopinions，interests，values，desiresandotheraspects．Generallyspeaking，conflicttalkreferstomanyspeechactsandspeechevents，suchasoppositionalargument,dispute,quarrelandobje

3、ction，etc．Conflicttalkarousedscholars’interestsincethe1980s．Theybegantoinvestigateitfromdifferentperspectivessuchasanthropology,sociolinguistics，andsociology．Thepresentthesistriestosystematicallyanalyzeconflicttalkfromtheperspectiveofpragmaticsbasedonconve

4、rsationanalysisandpolitenessprinciple．Methodologicallyspeaking，thisthesisadoptsbothqualitativeandquantitativeapproaches，aimingtoexplorethecausesandpatternsofconflicttalk．BasedonthedatacollectedfromthepopularsitcomDesperateHousewives,thethesisrespectivelyan
