3、mputationaltasks,thusleadingtoefficientsys temoperation.1IntroductionNowadays,thereisagrowinginterestintheend- to-endtransmissionofimages,especiallymotivatedbytheshort-termdeploymentofnextgenerationmobilecommunicationservices(UMTS-IMT2000).However,transmissioninanetworked,tetherlessen
4、vironmentprovidesbothopportunitiesandchallenges.Thewire lesscontextimpliesthatthedatamayundergobiter rorsandpacketlosses,makingitnecessarytoforeseeerrorrecoverymodalities.Itistherebynecessarythatimagecommunicationtechniquesareprovidedwiththeabilitytorecover,oratleastconceal,theeffecto
5、fsuchlosses.TheforthcomingJPEG2000imagecom pressionstandardhasbeendesignedtomatchtheserequirements,andembedssomeerrordetectionandconcealmenttools.Thispaperaddressesthedevelopmentofademon stratorofanerror-resilientJPEG2000decoderim plementationforimagecommunicationoveralossypacketnetwo
