2、nthefuture.Butwiththeincreasingofdatatrafficwithinthedatacenterandthegrowingofnetworklineratecontinues,networkswitchesneedtoprocessmorelookupoperationspersecond,anddotheseoperationsinlargerflowtables.Thesedemandschallengethenowusedlookupandforwardingmechanismsinnetworksw
3、itches.Lookupandforwardingmechanismsinthetraditionalhardware-basedswitchescan’tsupportlargeflowtables,andhaspoorscalability.Lookupandforwardingmechanismsinsoftware-basedswitchesalsohaveperformancebottlenecks.Researchershaveproposedmanysolutions,buteachofthemhavesomedrawb
4、acks.TheLookupandforwardingmechanismofthisthesiscansolvetheproblemsaboveinsomeway.Ituseshardwaretoprocessandstoretheframes,whilethesoftwaredoingthelookupoperations.Atlast,weimplementatethehardwareplatformofdataforwardingdevicebasedonthismechanisms.Weimplementatetheplatfo
5、rminFPGAofXilinx’s7K325T.Intheimplementationprocess,weusehigh-performanceDMAbasedonPCIExpressand10-GigabitEthernettechniques.Themainresultofthisthesisisa10Gnetworklookupandforwardingmechanismwhichcansupportlarge-scaleflowtablesandhasscalability.Accordingtothedemandforfuc
6、tionsinhardwarepartsofthemechanism,wedesignandimplementatetheDMAcontrollerbasedonPCIExpressandMAClayerof10-GigabitEthernetprotocol.Afterthecodedesignoftheseparts,wealsodothefunctionverificationtoensurethecorrectnessofeachmodule.Finally,wetestthedesignonboardfordelayandtr
