4、dbirdthroughseveralevolutionsbeforearrivingatthecurrentmodel.  Thelongleadtimewasnecessarybecause,duringthetrial-and-errorprocessneededtoimprovetheroboticbird,anyerrorwouldleadtoacrash.Thiswouldsometimesdestroytherobot,soeachstepinthedesignprocesswaspainstaki

5、nglyslow.  Whatmakesthecurrentmodelsorealisticisitsabilitytomoveeachwingindependentlyoftheother,justasrealbirdsdo.ThisenablestheRoboRaventoswoop,soar,diveandflapitswingsinamuchmoreaerobaticwaythanoldermodels,whosewingscouldonlymovesimultaneously.  “Ournewrobo

6、t,RoboRaven,isbasedonafundamentallynewdesignconcept,”Guptasaidinanewsrelease.“Itusestwoprogrammablemotorsthatcanbesynchronizedelectronicallytocoordinatemotionbetweenthewings.”  SomeofthedesignimprovementstotheRoboRavenwereinspiredbydesignsfoundinnature.Forexa
