2、chesterUniversity,ledbyAndreGeimandKostyaNovoselovusedthree-dimensionalgraphitefortheirexperimentandextractedasinglesheetofgrpahite,i.e.graphene.Aswellknown,grapheneisthefirsttwo-dimensionalallotropeofcarbon.Withthedevelopmentofnanotechnology,graphenecanalsobeobtainedbyexpitaxial
3、growthonSiC.Asanovelmaterial,graphenehasextremelyhighcarriermobility,outstandingballistictransportproperty,andgiantSeebeckcoefficient.Alltheseindicatethatgrapheneandgraphenenanoribbon(GNR)canbeidealcandidatesfornanoelectronicsandthermoelectricmaterials.However,theZTcoefficientofg
4、rapheneisverylowbecauseofthehightthermalconductivityofgraphene.Hence,howtoefficientlyreducethethermalconductivityofgrapheneandkeeptheelectricconductivityandSeebeckcoefficientnearlyunchangedisanimportantissueforus.Untilnow,thethermaltransportmechanismhasnotbeenwellexplored.Inchapt
5、erone,wefirstintroducethemainpropertiesoflowdimensionalnanomaterials,andthenweintroducethesignificanceofinvestigatingthermalconductivityoflowdimensionalnanomaterials.Furthermore,theexcellentthermalpropertiesofgrapheneandcarbonnanotubesarealsoshown.Finally,weoutlinetheresearchcont
6、entsofthisthesis.Inchaptertwo,weintroducethemoleculardynamicsmethod.Byemployingthemoleculardynamicsmethod,wecalculatetheheatflow,temperatureandthermalconductivityofnanosystems.Inchapterthree,wemanipulatethermalconductivityoflow-dimentionalnanosystemsbyintroducingperiodicantidotan

conductivityofperfectGNRsandanti-dottedGNRsisinvestigated.Inordertoreducethe
thermalconductivity,variouskindsofantidotsareperiodicallymadeintheGNRs.We
findthatthethermalconductivityofGNRsisdramaticallyreducedbyintroducing
