2、gearboxnoiseandvibration.Thefirstpaperpresentsareviewofpreviouslypublishedliteratureongearboxnoiseandvibration.Thesecondpaperdescribesatestrigthatwasspeciallydesignedandbuiltfornoisetestingofgears.Finiteelementanalysiswasusedtopredictthedynamicpropertiesofthetestrig,andexperimentalmoda

3、lanalysisofthegearboxhousingwasusedtoverifythetheoreticalpredictionsofnaturalfrequencies.Inthethirdpaper,theinfluenceofgearfinishingmethodandgeardeviationsongearboxnoiseisinvestigatedinwhatisprimarilyanexperimentalstudy.Eleventestgearpairsweremanufacturedusingthreedifferentfinishingmet

4、hods.Transmissionerror,whichisconsideredtobeanimportantexcitationmechanismforgearnoise,wasmeasuredaswellaspredicted.Thetestrigwasusedtomeasuregearboxnoiseandvibrationforthedifferenttestgearpairs.Themeasurednoiseandvibrationlevelswerecomparedwiththepredictedandmeasuredtransmissionerror.

5、Mostoftheexperimentalresultscanbeinterpretedintermsofmeasuredandpredictedtransmissionerror.However,itdoesnotseempossibletoidentifyonesingleparameter,suchasmeasuredpeak-to-peaktransmissionerror,thatcanbedirectlyrelatedtomeasurednoiseandvibration.Themeasurementsalsoshowthatdisassemblyand

6、reassemblyofthegearboxwiththesamegearpaircanchangethelevelsofmeasurednoiseandvibrationconsiderably.Thisfindingindicatesthatotherfactorsbesidesthegearsaffectgearnoise.Inthefourthpaper,theinfluenceofbearingendplayorpreloadongearboxnoiseandvibrationisinvestigated.Vibrationmeasurementswere

7、carriedoutattorquelevelsof140Nmand400Nm,with0.15mmand0mmbearingendplay,andwith0.15mmbearingpreload.Theresultsshowthatthebearingendplayandpreloadinfluencethegearboxvibrations.Withpreloadedbearings,thevibrationsincreaseatspeedsover2000rpmanddecreaseatspeedsbelow2000rpm,comparedwithbear
