4、tudyingEnglish-speakingculturestocelebrateWesternholidayswiththeirteachersandclassmates.However,thewayIseeit,unlesstheyoungpeoplelatergoabroadtoliveinthosecultures,thereisnoreasonforthemtocontinuetocelebratethem.WeChineseshouldholdontoourtraditionalfestivals,thefes
5、tivalswhichwehavecelebratedforcenturies.PracticeTwoMyThoughtsontheUniversityArtsFestivalForouruniversity’sartsfestival,Ithinkthattheuniversityshouldholdopencompetitionsandauditionsforanyonewhowantstotakepartinthefestival’sexhibitionsandperformances.Thiswouldnotonly
6、increasegeneralinterestinandappreciationforthearts,butwouldalsobeagoodwayforouruniversitytoshowitssupportforthearts.Thisartsfestivalisanexcellentopportunitytoremindeveryonethatartsareimportantforeveryonetoappreciateandtakepartin,regardlessofmajor.Ithinkthattheresho
7、uldbegeneral,openauditionsandcompetitionsinallthemajorarts.Thereshouldbecategoriesforpaintingandsculpture;classical,folkandmoderndance;andinstrumentalandchoralgroups,bothlargeandsmall.Thejudgesshouldbejointcommitteesmadeupofbothfacultyandstudents,bothexpertsinthefi
