2、dasactuatorsforminiaturespacecraftinstrumentsandsubsystems.Thetechnologythathasemergedincommercialproductsrequiresrigorousanalyticaltoolsforeffectivedesignofsuchmotors.Ananalyticalmodelwasdevelopedtoexaminetheexcitationofflexuralplatewavetravelinginarotarypiezoelectricallyactuatedmotor.Themodeluse
3、sannularfiniteelementsthatareappliedtopredicttheexcitationfrequencyandmodalresponseoftheannularstator.Thismodelallowstodesignefficientultrasonicmotors(USMs)anditincorporatesthedetailsofthestatorwhichincludetheteeth,piezoelectriccrystals,statorgeometry,etc.Thetheoreticalpredictionsandtheexperimenta

6、edreducinggears.Theuseofgearaddsmass,volumeandcomplexityaswellasreducesthesystemreliabilityduetheincreaseinthenumberofthesystemcomponents.Therecentintroductionofrotarypiezoelectricmotorsisofferingpotentialdrivemechanismsforminiatureinstruments[1-5].Thesemotorsofferhightorquedensityatlowspeed,highh
