4、tfact,hassponsoredthedevelopmentofextensionstoTEX,knownasAMS-TEX.Theymakethepreparationofmathematicalcompuscriptslesstime-consumingandthecopymoreconsistent.RecentlytheseextensionswereportedtoLATEXintheformofasetofpackagesknownasAMS-LATEX"[?].AssomepartsofAMS-TEXhadtodowithmathematicsfo

5、ntsthecorrespondingLATEXpackageswentintoaseparatedistributioncalledAMSFonts",ratherthanintoAMS-LATEX.8.1TheAMS-LATEXProjectAMS-TEXwasoriginallyreleasedforgeneralusein1982.Itsmainstrengthisthatitfacilitatesmathematicaltypesetting,whileproducingoutputthatsat-isesthehighstandardsofmathem

6、aticalpublishing.Itprovidesapredenedsetofnaturalcommandssuchasmatrixandtextthatmakecomplicatedmathematicsreasonablyconvenienttotype.ThesecommandsincorporatethetypesettingexperienceandstandardsoftheAmericanMathematicalSociety,tohandleproblematicpossibilities,suchasmatriceswithinmatric
