1、EVIEWSDEMONSTRATIONThisdemonstrationillustratesthebasicfeaturesofEViews.Itrepresentsatypicalapplication,andisnotmeanttobeacomprehensivedescriptionofthecapabilitiesoftheprogram.Inthisdemonstration,weexaminetherelationshipbetweenthedependentvariable,aggregatemoneydema
2、nd(M1),andtheindependentvariables,income(GDP),thepricelevel(PR),andshortterminterestrates(RS).Thesampleforecastingprojecttakesusthroughthefollowingsteps:1.importingdataintoEViewsfromanExcelspreadsheet2.examiningthedataandperformingsimplestatisticalanalysis3.usingreg
3、ressionanalysistomodelandforecastastatisticalrelationship4.performingspecificationandhypothesistesting5.plottingresultsCreatingaWorkfileandImportingDataThefirststepintheprojectistoreadthedataintoanEViewsworkfile.Beforewedescribetheprocessofimportingdata,notethatthed
4、emonstrationdatahavebeenincludedinyourEViewsdirectoryinbothExcelspreadsheetandEViewsworkfileformats.Ifyouwishtoskipthediscussionofimportingdataandgodirectlytotheanalysispartofthedemonstration,youmayloadthesedatabyselectingFile/Open/Workfile…andopeningtheworkfileDEMO
5、.WF1.Tocreateaworkfiletoholdyourdata,selectFile/New/Workfile…,whichopensadialogboxwhereyouwillprovideinformationaboutyourdata.Forourexample,quarterlydataareobservedfromthefirstquarterof1952totheendof1996.Youshouldsettheworkfilefrequencytoquarterly,andspecifythestart
6、date1952:1,andtheenddate1996:4.Onceyouhavefilledoutthedialog,clickontheOKbutton.EViewswillcreateanuntitledworkfile,andwilldisplaytheworkfilewindow.TheworkfilewindowisdescribedindetailinWorkfileBasics,TheWorkfileWindow.Fornow,noticethattheworkfilewindowdisplaystwopai
7、rsofdates:onefortherangeofdatescontainedintheworkfile,andthesecondforthecurrentworkfilesample.NotealsothattheworkfilecontainsthecoefficientvectorCandtheseriesRESID.AllEViewsworkfileswillcontainthesetwoobjects.Thenextstepistoimportdataintotheworkfile.Thedataforthefou
