2、ngnewmilitarystrategies.Atthatmeeting,paramountleaderDengXiaoping,alsoChairmanoftheCMC,madethefollowingconcludingremarks:therewillnotbelarge-scalewarfareintheforeseeablefuture.Factorspreventingimminentandlarge-scalewarfareareincreasing;suchfactorsare:(a)neithertheSovietUnionnortheUnite
3、dStateshasachievedadvantagesintermsofmilitarydeploymentandthereforepreventeithersidefrommakingthefirstmove;(b)thethirdworldcountriesarenotcooperatingwiththesetwopowersintermsofmilitarydeployment,infact,peopleinthethirdworldcountriessupportpeacemorethanwar;(c)theimportanceoftechnologica
4、ladvantageandsustainingeconomiccompetitionhavereplacedtheimportanceofsustainingwar-winningmilitarycapabilityandbecomingnewcontestedterraininworldcompetition.2Deng’sremarknotonlyimpelledChinesemilitarythinkerstodiscreditalarge-scalewarfarescenario,butalsoreplacedconventionalwarfightingt
