1、2.1.11CollapseofastackofblockswithgeneralcontactProduct:Abaqus/ExplicitThisexampleillustratestheuseofthegeneralcontactcapabilityinasimulationinvolvingalargenumberofcontactingbodies.Thegeneralcontactalgorithmallowsverysimpledefinitionsofcontactwithveryfewrestrictionsonthetypesofsurfacesinv

2、olved(see“DefininggeneralcontactinteractionsinAbaqus/Explicit,”Section35.4.1oftheAbaqusAnalysisUser'sManual).ProblemdescriptionThemodelsimulatesthecollapseofastackofblocks.TheundeformedconfigurationofthemodelisshowninFigure2.1.11–1.Thereare35blocks,andeachblockis12.7×12.7×76.2mm(0.5×0.5×3

3、inches)insize.Theblocksarestackedonarigidfloor.Thestackissubjectedtogravityloading.Itisassumedthatakeyblocknearthebottomofthestackhasbeenremovedjustbeforethestartoftheanalysis,initiatingthecollapse.EachblockismodeledwithasingleC3D8Relement.Theuseofacoarsemeshhighlightstheedge-to-edgeconta

4、ctcapabilityofthegeneralcontactalgorithm,becausethemajorityoftheblock-to-blockinteractionsdonotresultinpenetrationsofnodesintofaces.Twodifferentcasesareanalyzed.Inthefirstanalysistheblocksarerigid.Inthesecondanalysistheblocksaredeformable.Inthelattercase,thematerialoftheblockisassumedtobe

5、linearelasticwithaYoung'smodulusof12.135GPa(1.76×106Psi),aPoisson'sratioof0.3,andadensityof577.098kg/m3(5.4×10–5lbs2/in4).Onlythedensityisrelevantfortheanalysisassumingrigidblocks.Inaddition,ENHANCEDhourglasscontrolisusedforthedeformableanalysis.Therigidfloorismodeledasadiscreterigidsurfa

6、ceusingasingleR3D4element.Thismodelinvolvesalargenumberofcontactingbodies.Thegeneralcontactcapabilitygreatlysimplifiesthecontactdefinition,sinceeachofthe595possibleblock-to-blockpairingsdoesnotneedtobespecifiedindividually.Thegeneralcontactinclusionsoptiontoautomaticallydefineanall-inclus
