2、ardtoansweringquestions.Onecanaskanyquestion;buttohavearightanswer,thequestionmustalsoberight.Ifitisaseriousquestionputbyaseriousperson,byanearnestpersonwhoisseekingoutthesolutionofaverydifficultproblem,then,obviously,therewillbeananswerbefittingthatquestion.Butwhatgenerallyhappensisthatlotsofqu
3、estionsaresentin,sometimesveryabsurdones,andthenthereisademandthatallthosequestionsbeanswered.Itseemstomesuchawasteoftimetoasksuperficialquestionsandexpectveryseriousanswers.Ihaveseveralquestionshere,andIamgoingtotrytoanswerthemfromwhatIthinkisthemostseriouspointofview;and,ifImaysuggest,asthisis
4、asmallaudience,perhapsyouwillinterruptmeiftheanswerisnotveryclear,sothatyouandIcandiscussthequestion.Question:Whatcantheaveragedecentmandotoputanendtoourcommunalproblem?Krishnamurti:Obviouslythesenseofseparatismisspreadingthroughouttheworld.Eachsuccessivewariscreatingmoreseparatism,morenationali
5、sm,moresovereigngovernments,andsoon.EspeciallyinIndia,thisproblemofcommunaldissensionisontheincrease.Why?Firstofall,obviously,becausepeopleareseekingjobs.Themoreseparategovernmentsthereare,themorejobstherewillbe;butthatisaveryshortsightedpolicy,isitnot?Because,eventuallytheworld'stendencywillbem
6、oreandmoretowardsfederation,towardsacomingtogether,andnotaconstantbreakingup.Surely,anydecentpersonwhoreallythinksaboutthissituation-whichisnotmerelyIndian,butaworldaffair-,mustfirstbefreefromnationalism,notonlyinmattersofstate,butinthought,inaction,infeeling.Afterall,communalismismerelyabrancho
7、fnationalism.Belongingtoaparticularcountry,toaparticularraceorgroupofpeople,ortoaparticularideology,tendsmoreandmoretodividepeople,tocreateantagonismandhatredbetweenmanandman.Obviously,thatisnotthesolutiontotheworld'schaos.S
