3、trationtheoryhasbeendevelopedtocalculatethedynamicabsorptionrateofsulfurdioxideintoadropletoflimestoneslurry.Themodelincludesbothinstantaneousequilibriumreactionsandreactionswithfiniterates;limestonedissolution,sulfiteoxidation,gypsumcrystallizationandthehydrolysi
4、sreactionofCO2.ThemodelhasbeenusedtoquantifythemasstransferwithinasprayscrubberandtoestimatetheimpactofthereactionswithfiniterateoftheSO2masstransfer.Thevariationswithinthephysicalmasstransferconditionsofasprayscrubberhavebeensimulatedbyassuminghighmasstransfercoe
5、fficientsclosetothenozzlesandlowcoefficientsbelowthesprayregion.Thedevelopedconcentrationprofilesofthediffusingspeciesandthedepthofpenetrationhavebeendeter-minedfordifferentpenetrationtimes.ThecalculationsshowthattheabsorptionofSO2intoalimestonesprayscrubbertoalar
6、geextentisliquid-sidecontrolled.Onlyattheverytopoftheabsorber,wherethepartialpressureofSOzislow,isthegasfilmresistanceabove50%.Limestonedissolutionclosetothegas-liquidinterfacehasbeenshowntobeofsignificanceatlowpHandinthepartsoftheabsorberwheretheinternalcirculati
7、oninsidethedropletsislow.TheimpactofthehydrolysisreactionofCO2ontheabsorptionrateofSO2hasbeenstudiedbyvaryingthereactionrateconstant.Simulationsshowthattherateconstanthasalargeimpactonlocalabsorptionrates.Dependingonthelengthofthecontacttimebetweenthegasandtheliqu
