1、MATHMODELINGFORSWEETSPOTAbstractBaseballisapopularbat-and-ballgameinvolvingbothathleticsandwisdom.Therearestrictrestrictionsonthematerial,sizeandmanufactureofthebat.Itisvitalimportanttotransferthemaximumenergytotheballinordertogiveitthefastestbattedspeedduringthehittingproces
2、s.Firstly,thispaperlocatesthecenter-of-percussion(COP)andtheviberationalnodebasedonthesinglependulumtheoryandtheanalysisofbatvibration.Withthehelpofthesynthesizingoptimizationapproach,amathematicalmodelisdevelopedtoexecutetheoptimizedpositioningforthe“sweetspot”,andthebesthit
3、tingspotturnsoutnottobeattheendofthebat.Secondly,basedonthebasicmodelhypothesis,takingthephysicalandmaterialattributesofthebatasparameters,themomentofinertiaandthehighestbattedballspeed(BBS)ofthe“sweetspot”areevaluatedusingdifferentparametervalues,whichenablesaquantifiedcompa
4、risontobemadeontheperformanceofdifferentbats.ThusfinallyexplainedwhyMajorLeagueBaseballprohibits“corking”andmetalbats.InproblemI,takingtheCOPandtheviberationalnodeastwodecisivefactorsofthe“sweetzone”,modelsaredevelopedrespectivelytostudythehittingeffectfromtheangleofenergycon
5、version.Becausethedifferent“sweetspots”decidedbyCOPandtheviberationalnodereflectdifferentformofenergyconversion,the“space-distance”conceptisintroducedandthe“TechniqueforOrderPreferencebySimilaritytoIdealSolution(TOPSIS)isusedtolocatethe“sweetzone”stepbystep.Andthus,itisproved
6、thatthe“sweetspot”isnotattheendofthebatfromthetwoanglesofspecificquantitativerelationshipofthehittingeffectsandtheinferenceofenergyconversion.InproblemII,applyingnewphysicalparametersofacorkedbatintothemodeldevelopedinProblemI,themomentofinertiaandtheBBSofthecorkedbatandtheor
7、iginalwoodbatunderthesameconditionsarecalculated.TheresultshowsthatthecorkingbatreducestheBBSandthecollisionperformanceratherthanenhancingthe“sweetspot”effect.Ontheotherhand,thecorkingbatreducesthemomentofinertiaofthebat,whichmakesthebatcanbecontrolledeasier.Bycomparingthetwo
